TOWER Editor

Student Activities Council and the Connection hosted a “Rock the Vote” voter registration event on September 5 to help students and members of the community register to vote or request absentee ballots. Over 30 students were registered, and the first 20 to participate received free t-shirts.

Connection president Annie Grogan sees the lack of student involvement in political and social issues as a problem that needs to be addressed. "When we graduate from College,” she says, “it's going to matter who is in the oval office.”

Even among students who are following the political process, there is an unwillingness to hold open discussions or present controversial opinions. Nevertheless, the Connection and Student Activities Council are determined to make Bethanians more aware of the importance of voting. "Basically," states Grogan, "it's your future. You can't complain about things if you didn't take part when you could have changed them."

Plans are still in progress for future “Rock the Vote” events to be held on campus leading up to the November election. However, students are advised to register and request their absentee ballots as soon as possible by visiting
